| I've just started playing TF2 again and there is alot more stuff to it. About 100 more achievements and now new weapons like a flare gun and a secondary action for the flamethrower. The only thing is I have no idea how to get these weapons. Do you just have to complete achievements? The weapons also say that require a level. It's just all very confusing anyone know the ins and outs? | |

| I haven't unlocked anything yet, but you just have to complete a certain number of achievements for the class.
So far, there's been a Pyro update, a Medic update, and a Heavy update. Complete these class-specific achievements to unlock weapons.

| Basically yeah, if you have a look at the acheivements they will show you what is requred for each class. You have to complete a certain amount before you get the items. Im sick of achivements in games, they are everywhere and its making me play all my games do death QQ lol. | |

| I have to sort of agree with Tom. Although I don't mind patches to games which give additional fun stuffs to play with i'm kind of wondering about the whole merret of achievements and unlocking weapons. Battlefield 2142 was the first FPS i played where you "leveled up" to unlock new weapons for the classes, and for me that game did it really well and it was enjoyable.
On the other hand i've been trying to unlock as many of the achievements as possible in TF2 and it kind of feels like on some of the achievements you're not being helpfull to your team at all, such as getting 6 melee kills as a pyro with out dying. Just running around with the axe isn't really productive for either defending or attacking and TF2 to me is one of the type of games where team work is essentual.
I'm not saying that the new version of TF2 that i'm playing is bad, but I'm kind of wondering what the point is when i'd still be playing the game even without those achievements. Probably just to get achievement whores playing there game again ^^

| hey that sounds like a great idea. I'd be very up for some competitive TF2. I love it when a pub team can pull together and faceroll the enemy so I can only imagine how good it would be with a whole team organised to do it. | |

Hell yes it does. Most of the European servers are getting boring anyway. All everyone does is play as Demoman, or turtle on 2fort, or load up really poor maps where red always wins no matter what. I'd like the idea of just playing some cp_fastlane with people or knocking down some arena rounds.

| Anybody got any good maps they've made, or know of any good maps available out there? Just as a point of conversation. | |

| Me and Youme used to frequent the same server, even went paintballing together once. That's as close as I get. (Youme/Tim J was the primary designer of Hoodoo, new map wot came in Spy/Sniper update) | |

| Not many custom maps I like really, i've half made an arena map, can't be bothered to finish it.
A friend of mine made a pretty decent arena map though, I can link you to it if youw anna see it.]
As for non arena maps, cp_freight is pretty fun (for me at least, I know a lot of people hate it), I'll have a look through my map list and see if I remember any decent maps i've played on.

| Bleh, I've played freight and it's so much fail. Everytime I play it, no matter what team I am on, the Red team always wins. Seriously. Doesn't matter who's in what team or what class, red always wins. Somehow. I do hope Valve don't make it into an official map.
A good map I found once was ctf_trains, or something to that extent. Two trains interconnected by a bridge at the back of them. Seemed pretty fun. I'll see if I can find it again.

| Freight is played in competitive a lot. But it basically comes down to who wins middle.
And I think the map you are thinking of is convoy, a ctf map

| Ah that'd be the one. A lol moment occured on that where I was just sitting on the bridge and mowing down all the scouts that came at me. It was going good untill a demo sticky spammed me to death. | |
