I've played and DM'd 3.5 in the past, and have the DMG at Uni.

I've download the 4th edition, I read what I could over the summer. Looks pretty good, I picked up a set of D&D dice just in case.

Heh, on a similar note (and now that you've said that, I can reveal this) I brought a set of dice up with me, on the off chance (Natural 20!) someone brought it up. Havn't played in bloody years, though.

I think if i did play it I could never use the D&D and minatures, they look like fisher price toys. I listened to a D&D podcast where the penny arcade guys played a game with the writer/artist from PVP, it was really good so that got me interested.

We need to get some campaigns started, i miss my chars *sniffles*

Sounds good, I was a GM for warhammer fantasy roleplay for a while and I really need to get a hang of the D&D 4 rules so I can GM for that, I'll be happy to play any role to learn tho.

I agree, we need to get some games started, online or irl. There are some good free programs for playing D&D online, but it lacks a bit of the atmosphere I find.

I've played version 2 and 3.5, hiliariously fun times I'd say. I'm not at all familiar with 4 though, but I'm glad I'm not the only one interested.
Count me in if at all possible, if you intend to get a weekly session or something going.

gotta love the legend. long live Gary Gygax

and a lighter note. i liked alot off the ideas behind 4th but in practice when i got my dnd group to try them we all agreed that it was too plain and aimed at the point and click generation rarther than the think off every option generation that involves a simple 10hr campain become a lifelong campain due to the ammount of detail created by player about them and how they play and how the world developes around them or infact as most time is the case how they change the world.

with that i rarther than replacing my 22 different mauals with the new 4th edition ones i made some modification to 3.5, first off all an improveent off spell caster that macks them more usiful for more than 10 spells. every ran out off spells per day ppl. at one of the meetings we need to have a full discusiona about getting a dnd group going the only problem will be the hnumber off ppl interested in player, as i say a group should be no bigger than say 8 plays at most 4-6 preferable. im alll up for dming or player as ive dm for the past 3 years almost solid or been an asist dm, and ive got that many characters that i want to play, as im fed up off using them as npc in campains, if we are going to start this group give me time to bring some off my stuff up as i didnt bring any physical products as i had no garentee off other dnd players.

I'm up for that, I'm on city campus. I love being GM, DM what ever you wish to call it but I'm not familiar enough with the rules so when I learn them I'll convert my old fantasy roleplay quests to D&D rules.

If there aren't enough of us at Clifton to have our own I'd gladly make the commute to somewhere else once a week.

wait for numbers to be sorted first. the only prblem i can see so far is a venue as hall's kitchens and rooms are too much off a hassel, inless we can do it at someones house falt, or even a private room at a pub or something, but that still creates the problem of moving all the stuff.

All the stuff? I've got all the manuals for D&D 4 PDF, few minatures and some dice, no problem. Very Happy

To be honest from what I've heard 3.5 is far better than 4. I loved it, personally.

I'm happy with either as I am still to learn. Does anybody have the manuals, I might get them on PDF anyway just for convenience.

I have 3.5 DM's Guide in the flesh, and the rest in .pdf. I don't have any 4.0 stuff, but I'm curious about trying it.

Seems promising so far.

I myself have only recently gotten into the whole RP thing, I've been playing Dark Heresy for the past year and a half, and have sinced moved on to DMing my own DnD games.

My DnD games are a mixture of Iron Heroes (Classes and system) and a magic system from the Black Company Campaign setting, with a custom wizard class converging the two.

The world I have set this in is one of my own creations, and is as yet an ongoing project. I have drawn alot of inspiration from Stephen Eriksson in this world and game.

So, if anyones up for a ganter into the darkened musings of my mind, drop be a bell ,(Thats an odd phrase).
And if anyones going to be running something, let me know too.

well deffinately have to get something going, seams weve got quite afew budding dms aswell. could be handy if we have too much interests and have to run more than one group to cope with it all. once we get too the meeting tonight, well sort plans out. also does anyone have a whiteboard that has a grid system on it. as yourll find most have the 1" grid that is needed for the dnd board, and there so much easier to use than the fold out map, only thing is there relativly big about 3ft by 2 most. i have one at home but dont really want to bring it down, inless i have to.

I think we'll first need to find out who's actually interested, and what days they have off.
Also, play styles preferred, such as systems and whatnot.
