| So I just got back from watching this at the cinema. Previously I was excited, sure, and it turns out, with all the justification any amount of hype would require. Unfathomably amazing movie. | |

| Oh man I saw this movie a couple of days ago and it went waaaay past expectations. Especially loved the alien weapons, and the ending was unexpected. | |

| have to say, was totally disappointed with this.. the first hour or so i was annoyed at how thick the moralfag message was laid on, spent the whole film giggling at his accent, the last 30 mins or so - whilst predictable - redeemed it though. Would have respected the film more if it stayed down the path it set out on, rather than reverting to type for the last 30 mins.
But meh, would recomend watching it on a rainy night it with nothing else to do! Wish Id seen inglorious bastards tbh!

| It was a good film, certainly wasn't bad. I enjoyed the first half as it was a bit different, a few bits I wasn't expecting. The second half was a bit more generic action film although the final scenes were pretty decent. | |

| ah saw this the other week, though I forgot about this topic, It certainly wasn't a bad film, but I cant seem to really decide whether it was utter genius or just an average movie about aliens and explosions n shit. There were some very well vignetted moral arguments glued into the story though I feel they may be lost on more than the majority of the american audience.
The weapons were awesome though, and what at first i thought would be a terrible idea to have that south african dork as the protaganist actually turned out to be a really good idea.
I enjoyed it though and it was certainly worth paying to go and see it at the cinema.
Now just to find someone to go and see 500 days of summer with so I don't look like a loser....

| @3L Ha, indeed. I turned down 500dos to go see this, and after looking at short reviews for the aforementioned afterwards, wondered if I could've been better to see what I originally subtitled in my head as a "soppy-summer-girly-thingy". But I totally, pretty much mirror your views. But without the odd backwardsness.
If I wasn't so damn lazy right now, I'd copy and paste your entire post. But I'm like, super lazy right now. So lazy, I might not even finish this pos

| Yeah, I agree with what someone said above, I'm so so so so glad it was set in Johannesburg in South Africa. it would be sickening if it was set in America for hundreds of reasons I need not mention | |
