Since they're multi-platform, I thought this would be the best place to put this post.

What's your favourite? What about obscure-but-good ones?

Personally, I love Street Fighter III:3,



Guilty Gear XX# Reload,


and Last Blade 2,


although I'm still terrible at the latter, I want to get good enough at it to organise something at some point.

I loved samurai showdown 2 for the neogeo pocket, I've played the arcade version on XBLA and thought that was pretty decent too. I also I like marvel vs capcom for Dreamcast. You usually can't go wrong with either capcom or SNK.

I guess you could count the Smash Bros games as 2D? Unless we're talking proper sprite beat-em-ups, in which case, Street Fighter II Turbo wins each time. Very Happy

Have you seen Battle Fantasia? Its produced by the same guys that do Guilty Gear but one of the characters is a bunny rabbit dressed as a wizard ha!
