vent

Do you guys idle on a vent? I'm a firm believer that people dont exist if they're not on vent!

I assume the committee will use fees to get a vent server... but in the mean time does anyone have anything larger than a free 8 man? (I have an 8 man I rarely use thats availible, or I can install old vent - 32man iirc)

We don't have vent at the moment but it's a really great idea. This will be one of the first things we get when the funding comes through.

This will be a must as well. Im sure with the funding we are getting this will be more then acceptable to have. Either Vent or TeamSpeak. Both I have found to be excellent.

I've never actually used Ventrilo, all my previous groups have just been using TS. Any major differences?

I've personally found the sound quality on vent to be better than TS.

I have used boht Vent and TS. Both ive had good experiences with so it really doesnt matter which we use in my opinion.

Teamspeak lacks quality in terms of the codecs used, Ventrilo lacks user friendliness. I would get into the sounds used by each program, but what would be the point? most people turn them off altogether Razz

So the thick and thin of it is that Ventrilo is the one to use if you're not going to be faffing around with settings in the long term.

Heh, it's got some slightly more interesting features too, such as the surround sound options and other stuff along those lines. Other stuff too, but that just jumps out at me. Wink

mmm, I might be able to get you all on a vent server for free, but ill have to ask permission as its a multiplay vent server that me and my friends kinda borrow to play supcom with, providing everone is nice and not rude they might just allow everone access. Smile

I use vent regulary for this other forum I post on a lot
it annoyed me at first
but now i quite like it!
