| The room had PCs, that much was obvious, but I doubt we would be allowed to put games or Steam on them. Other students might feel distracted when using them if we do. | |

| from what I can gather this isn't a society thing and is university policy, the computers are for educational purposes and not really meant for game playing, besides the chip set is probably crap anyway.
tbh I doubt that is going to happen unless someone put on a Lan Party or something. You could still play online with members, just ask around

| i know that the computers will not allow steam to be installed on them because the IT guys think it could be used as a way to hack into their system or something dumb like that. the machines do however have UT2k4 installed on them becasue the multimedia course uses the authoring tools.
it looks like the only way we're going to be able to get PC LANS together is with BYO pc.

| My laptop was purchased for power saving, not gaming. I do have TF2 on it but it runs really slow. | |

| Im kind of against moving my PC anywhere tbh since it tends to be rather delicate about corrupting my HDD's randomly. I would bring my Xbox in for some LAN action though. | |

| A few rooms in Clifton's CIB block have Steam on them - we had a few CSS and L4D games going on during Fresher's Week. The lecturer who organised it said the techies were fretting about security and whatnot so it was probably a one-off. Still might be worth investigating though. I'll see if I can dig around for some more info this week. | |

| yeah the ones in CIB are for the 3d design module, they dont have the games installed on all the pc's in the room and most of the time the games need to be downloaded before they will run properly. It would be a lot of hassle for a LAN plus that room is almost always fully booked (thinks its room 201/202) :S | |

| I think I speak for the committee when I say that we have set up socials so people can get together and play games but the Gamer Soc is also here so that people who are interested in gaming can get together. That being said I urge you all to set up your own gaming events, lans etc. and use the Gamer Soc to find like minded people who want to join in. Although the Gamer Soc has a budget we are still limited by the University rules and services so it looks like some events events won't be possible but we will do what we can to assist with your own events | |

| We've investigated the computer room with the steam machines. Aparently it's for comp sci people only and we can't get access to them for the society. | |
